More Kitchen Shots

Black and White vs. Color

I love how the orange came out in the black and white photo, it almost looks more delicious. Though I love how warm the tones in the table look against the orange.

The bottles are from my Grandmother's kitchen. She has a beautiful collection that she has saved over the years. It is one of my favorite parts of her house, maybe one day it will be a part of my own home.  The bottles are so vibrant with the afternoon sun shining through the window. The bottles look fine in black and white, but I feel they really lose something without the color.

Kidnapped (Scanner as Camera)

I started this project going in a completely different manner. At first I wanted to show my fashion side, or portray my recently broken heart. Though I quickly realized I was not inspired with my ideas involving fashion, and I wasn't necessarily ready to explore my breakup.

I have recently become obsessed with the television show Dexter, and now have a new love for serial killers. This was the inspiration for these photos. The fear behind being kidnapped, and brutalized.

It was interesting having to lean over the scanner, instead of how you would look at a camera. It added a different feel to the photos which I really enjoyed.  This project was a lot of fun to do. Defiantly different from the photos I have taken in the past. I was very excited to explore my darker side.
